Sustained Progress in the Electricity Sector

Syria's Ministry of Energy announced that the first half of 2026 saw accelerated activity across the electricity and renewable energy sector. The ministry stated that efforts focused on improving power supply reliability, rehabilitating and expanding existing grid infrastructure, and upgrading power conversion centres.

Grid and Substation Rehabilitation

According to the ministry, rehabilitation works covered electricity transmission networks and conversion centres, with the stated aim of raising the reliability and efficiency of the overall power system and delivering greater stability in energy supply to consumers.

Expansion of Renewable Energy Projects

Alongside grid rehabilitation, the ministry highlighted an expansion in renewable energy projects as a core pillar for ensuring the long-term sustainability of Syria's power system. The ministry described renewable energy development as integral to supporting the country's recovery and development trajectory.

Objective: A More Efficient and Stable Power System

The ministry characterised these efforts as part of a continuous programme aimed at building an electricity sector capable of meeting the needs of Syrian citizens and providing a supportive environment for economic activity and rebuilding works.
